Acoustic Electronica

Are there any acoustic instrument-only bands that play music intended to sound electronic?

Just realised that this question might lead to some really godawful music involving jazz drummers playing drum and bass and beatboxers. Abort! Abort!

Bring out the vacuum
The only ones I can think of are covers / tribute type projects - i.e. people doing covers. Am sure there are performers who attempt to emulate some sounds from electronic stuff outside the realms of academia too, if that's more what you were after...

Anyway, there's the Acid Brass project:

Alarm Will Sound did an album of acoustic covers of Aphex Twin:

Balanescu Quartet did a bunch of Kraftwerk covers, album's called Possessed:

And Terre Thaemlitz did releases playing rubato (i.e. flexible tempo) piano versions of Kraftwerk, Gary Numan, and Devo. I got the impression they are not just straight up performances.

Still find this somewhat impressive. Old and truly acoustic as it's only voices.
Flying Pickets doing Yazoo.
