One thing I've noticed is that it's surprisingly difficult to act drunk convincingly when you're not - it takes a real actor to pull off the facial expressions and vocal slur just right.

Hmm, I guess it's a lazy written tic that I'd never noticed before - good point.

What about the scene in Kickboxer where (the guy who might as well be) Mr Miyagi gets Van Damme really drunk and then picks a fight for him with all the local blades? Classic stupidity.
