I've been charged with turning around an article about Jerry Lewis's unreleased and unfinished 1972 movie, The Day The Clown Cried, about a clown who gets sent to a Nazi death camp. The few people who have seen it--including Harry Shearer--unanimously regard it as the most distasteful thing they've ever seen. But Lewis still swears that it's his masterpiece, and he's going to finish it. Apparently, only one known copy exists, which is a VHS in Lewis's office.
So my question is, does anyone know anything about this movie that isn't already on the various websites about it?
Has anyone even seen it?
EVEN BETTER, does anyone have a copy?!
I don't have long for the article, like 4 days, so that's why I'm throwing it open like this. Any information or resources would be much appreciated.
