I really like this stuff -- because I'm secretly soppy, and I don't smoke marijuana. However, I know next to nothing about it. Any recommendations?

Glad people like the mix!

I saw a rough cut of the lovers rock film and it is really great, a shame if it doesn't come out properly...

Good to see this stuff getting mentioned in Reggae Britannia (as well as Saxon etc) - that would never have happened ten years ago...

I thought you meant the two comps on Fashion which are absolutely killer, but a re-read shows me you don't.

The comp are Lovers Fashion Volumes 1 & 2 - Dance Pon the Corner, Let's Dub It up, I Specialise in Good Girls.... Pure fire. Excellent starting point for the UK lick.

There's also some great comps put out by the Peckings label - Studio 1 gear so they don't have that London feel, but absolutely boss and on the delicate, sweet tip. Slightly earlier so 60s/70s rather than 80s.

I'm thinking of Mama Peckings and The Duchess, can't remember the name of the other one off the top of my head.

This is killing me right now. I love this tune.

Let's Dub It up and I Specialise in Good Girls are on that Greensleeves comp and are KILLER.

I think Let's Dub It Up was the first record Fashion ever put out...

Studio One Lovers comp on Soul Jazz is well worth a look, but I'm definitely going to have a rummage for all yuor recommendations Danny!

No dread, no beat and no blood, pure niceness. Even the dub is sweet pressure.

My best friend was once asked in Brixton "Do you like both types of music?". She queried, to be given the reply "Y'know, do you like soul AND lovers"

It's all about her oooh ooh oooooooo-ooooooohs in this :

<iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/J51HSCM1PYM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

and then there's Norma if you feel like slitting your wrists :

and then the mighty ooooooooohs on this as well by the mighty Kotch, what a voice
