Wow, Marc! You've really pushed all my buttons with this one. Wicked tingz, as they say. The mix is tight, as usual, especially given the range of tempos you were working with. The dark 'nuum sort of became my soundtrack to the ghastly winter just pased as well (hence the monomania of my blog during the cold months). There's paradoxical solace in those tracks. I'm actually just finishing a paper on sonic brutalism in Jungle and I've devoted a lot of space to Darkside, so thanks for the added inspiration ;)

Think this is one of your best mixes to date Marc. Not mad about the first section, but quite impressed by the overall flow, tune selection, and the atmosphere of the whole thing.

Well crafted...

who's zeta reticula?

zeta reticula is one of the aliases for umek, a techno producer, funnily enough.

the zeta reticula eps tends to be shivering drones and metallic synths, thought it might be fun to splice it up with some dubstep.

thanks droid! :)

on the cd i've cut each section as a separate track as i figured not everyone will be into all of it - tried to engineer it to work as three mini sets.

btw droid, do you produce drum n bass? or am i thinking of someone else?

You proabably are thinking of someone else, but....

I was part of Bassbin back in the day, used to do all their artwork, was a resident DJ for them, and was on their first compilation, so Ive been tarred with that brush ever since! ;)

Otherwise - Ive mostly worked on electronic related music as Droid+Slug for our own label: The Fear and the likes of Front End Synthetics. But we're marginally better known (in Ireland at least) from pirate radio and playing gigs as Electronica/Electro/Multi-Genre/Jungle/Old-Skool/Reggae DJ's over the last 7 years - so there must be AT LEAST 50 people who've heard of us!!

Umek is a Slovenian producer from Ljubljana, for what it's worth.

There was a feature on him in DJ Mag in 2002 (no.3, vol.1), of all places (in a series entitled "DJ WORLD," i.e., a semi-patronizing 'see folks we know the Eastern European techno scene' piece . . . sigh). Umek did the mix CD for the issue, which features a number of Zeta Reticula tracks. The mix isn't bad, though the opening track is fantastic -- glossed-out bubbling, pulsing sixteenth-note synth bliss.

By the way: lovely mix, Marc. Have been enjoying it immensely.
