Best synth sound ever

Darned cockwombles.
I know it's obvious, gotta say Hyph Mngo's synths are amazing. The pitch-bent ones around 2:00.

The stringy synth on Joker's Stuck in a System too (presuming it is a synth, and not an old violin...)

and on here at 2:30, though part of it is the fantastic space made in the mix: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/xy4nrCYMMcM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

jetplaning is cool. it's when you put two identical synth samples together and detune one of them a fraction and then trigger them simultaneously. it creates a thick phase effect, you'd know the sound when you hear it. my mate who showed me how to do it told me that in the 90s it was a pretty common shortcut to making a synth sound more volatile and interesting, from back when people couldn't rely on layering up loads of loads of softsynth presets and shoving them through some sidechained compression heh

I don't know about 'ever', but this is certainly my favourite of recent times. Lots of great noises in this, especially from around 2.50 onwards where the really squizzy bit comes in. Headphones recommended, computer speakers don't really do it justice.

And yes, 'Com Truise' is a terrible name.

''AmbientSynth2'' on Reason. For some reason can't recall any particular tracks which use this sound (or something like it) but it pops up in a lot of jungle/hardcore, probably particularly 'ambient' jungle but in a lot of pre-ambient jungle where it serves as calm introduction music and/or emotional escalation music.

I've dunna little example on Reason here http://www.zshare.net/audio/967788644c3234a0/
