Scott - you have to scroll down a bit and uncheck the box in 'additional options' called 'automatically parse links in text'...it's a pain in the arse

Only given this a couple of listens but I really liked it...I'm a relative Hype Williams Novice but been really intrigued by it lately. What's a good starting point?

Best to go from One Nation, then the Untitled debut on Carnivals they did I think, then start filling in blanks with their stream of side releases.
They got an absolute shit tonne of stuff though, i sent You my collection recently when he asked for some stuff and it was a nightmare finding a free way to transfer 1gb+ of music.

Barmy considering they've only existed properly for a couple of years

cheers for the recommends!

That track's on the end of the mixtape. Been caning it off youtube for the last couple of weeks, nice to find it on there

no worries :) haven't had the chance to listen to the tape yet, but really like that one track.

Thanks for the pro tip secondline.
I agree with everyone here, the albums. One nation was a favourite of last year for sure. Often the side releases are revised editions of other side releases and the like. Narcissist 2 is the first CDr with an additional intro and extended by 12 minutes of new material for example. If you can get hold of it, Inga copeland's untitled 12" is pretty good. You can hear bits on youtube:

It's great to me that, as fast as things spread across the internet these days, Hype Williams releases can sneak out until sold out before most people even realise. I can't get enough of their dream-like, nostalgic sound.

Have you heard the upcoming album then? I'm looking forward so much! Am absolutely in love with this snippet:

Are there any other previews of the upcoming album?

Promos got sent out t'other day, as for snippets i'm not sure. There's the trailer thing:

Ah, I forgot everyone on here is a journalist. There's some nice tracks on that guardian bundle though, like the AMIR voc mix track especially!

PROGRESSION is cool too, the whole thing is worth checking out anyway, very nice package!

They're in the Guardian, of all places - http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2012/apr/05/hype-williams-speak-the-truth

So is rap a big influence? "I hate it. (What's the Story) Morning Glory is the best album ever. That's what I listen to day in day out. Inga can vouch for that – when she's staying over in Lisbon that's all she hears. 'Turn that guitar shit off!' So no, I hate hip-hop. I'm not joking." You don't listen to anything else but Oasis? "I like repetition. You know how Steve Jobs wore that same polo neck? I listen to the same album." This feels like crying wolf again, but he really seems genuine.

fucking hell, some of the comments below the line are so stupid, even by the website's usual standards.

The group fulfill many of the metrosexual cosmopolitan fantasies of middle aged hipsters. They lurk in trendy cultural capitals, one transcended boxing for white geek low-fi, the other the eastern bloc, coming together to ratify the multicultural sensibilities of the general population of Pitchfork readership.

They quench the thirst for more audio American Apparel, giving legions of their drainpipe trousered, thick blackframed glasses wearing loosely banged hairstyle dropping fans the opportunity to nod along with songs called 'black is beautiful' without having to look ridiculous listening to rap ever again.
