Yeah, I love Harryhausen too. I just watched the original Clash Of The Titans last week and I still think it's better than the slicker 2010 remake. There's a great double disc DVD of early Harryhausen shorts called The Early Years Collection which is available quite cheaply from Amazon. This thread has reminded me that I've got a pre-owned DVD of Jason & The Argonauts to watch as well.

whilst rewatching Valley of Gwangi a thought occurred to me.
in dynamotion cinema, the gaps between movement are fractionally off, wonky, therefore 'the magic of film' becomes obviously apparent. watching still images trigger FPS in rapid sequence will always be a wonder to behold. watching paper mache monsters reminds us why film is so important, and if it is to be outmoded by digital methods, this needs to be taken into consideration.
