where are the satirists? me and my mate were talking about this yesterday. the war on terror is hilarious.
where is the brass eye special? is chris morris pussy? the war on terror is a gift to satirists, its so ridiculuous and highlights all the fucked up things politicians do and yet there hasn't been (as far as either of us are aware) a really classic piece of satire coming out of it. whys that? sort it out.

Over here we get a nightly solid dose of laughs on the subject from the Daily Show,
jeez we need it after the usual BS that gets shot out, extruded each day

chris morris might well be chickening out, making gimmicky sitcoms about old street types while the reichstag burns. having said that he did a great pullout thing in the observer on 9/11 a couple of years ago, might root around for a link.

to be honest i think most satirists now are thinking what tom lehrer was thinking when kissinger won the nobel peace prize- i.e, 'i retire, my job is worthless'.

the best satire i've read in the last few years has been doonesbury. doonesbury for god's sake!

Chris Morris War On Terror stuff:

i don't really rate it much myself. Surely it's telling that some of this was recycled into Nathan Barley, the suggestion implicit - if not explicit - that only 'idiots' would want to make/consume this stuff. I'd like to think this attitude was the direct result of an epiphany like Lehrer's but i guess i’m not convinced it was...

Let's Talk About Ceps
That new one looks like a retread of Four Lions tbh.

Yeah, exactly what I thought when I saw the trailer recently.

Probably still worth a watch (and perhaps not quite as tired as Sasha Baron Cohen doing his joke, again).
