Youve defiled that tune, but I'll forgive a fellow Tom Waits fan any sacrilege.

Would've been a classic in 1978. We'll give it the remix treatment in 15 years, get John Foxxxxxy to cover it, I smell money.

oof. and ouch. this must be a joke. surely. but it does contain a kernel of truth. it would also mean moving the dissensus raw tracks thread too...

Yeah Edmund we'll move you too if you're not careful.

I'm a guy that gives heart and soul to dissensus, a ten year veteran and all I ask in return is that you each watch my video ten times each to boost the viewing figures and share on all social media platforms relentlessly

how could even the hardest hearted cold rationalist deny this heartfelt plea? certainly it's fine by me. in fact linked you earlier this very day and told my friends. loving it.

excellent vocals by the way. very nuanced performance. is that really you or is that will? did will do the beats? details please.

The beat is some Italian aphex imitator from the '90s. I don't know the name, it's wills record. He loves that sort of thing. The name of the tune is Greenwich. We were doing karaoke anyway so the mic was there and we were recording. Both very drunk. Improvised it on the spot. You couldn't write that. Gormless naivete is impossible to feign. It has to be natural

The tune is by Bochum Welt. Early singing to Rephlex. Far from being an Aphex imitator, he is in fact quite highly regarded as an original emotronic synth purist. Hes made some absolutely beautiful records and is beloved by cognoscenti.

'Will' has good taste.

I'm looking forward to the BBC4 documentary but not the massive court case between Will Clarke and Luke to secure royalties.

what's the name of the original BW track?

reminds me of a late 70s/early 80s disco-not-disco track, perhaps a side project including someone from a no wave band that would appear on one of those soul jazz "new york noise" compilations (except an english version). it's also better than most hype williams/dean blunt and much of the stuff in the chillwave/vaporware thread.

also like how the "p"s pop a few times, a little too close to the mic there!

Very impressed that the lyrics were ad-libbed. None of my music has lyrics beyond a couple of samples chucked in there and there - I respect people who can write words to a song.

Bochum Welt rings a bell from some ancient Braindance CD I've got somewhere.

Never knew Greenwich was pronounced like "granich".

Never knew Greenwich was pronounced like "granich".

Yeah it's classic lazy English pronunciation - I mean, the standard way to say "Greenwich", not luka's particular enunciation. Ask for directions to "green witch" and you're gonna get stared/laughed at.

Leo

not just an english thing, tho. nyc's greenwich village and the town in connectitcut are pronounced "gren-itch", never green-witch.

Oh man, you've had a whiff of the drug called FAME and now you want more. But you can never have enough! First you wanted 500 views but then you decided you wanted 600 - and when you reach that, 800 will sound like a good number, and then 1000...

The exact pronouncement of Plaistow is a vexed issue. I once experienced a double verbal assault from Luke and his mother on this very issue, during a contentious drive to Southend. They were very touchy about it.

They were as worked up and defensive as North Walian Welshies, it was a bit weird.
