Girls will be boys: Women report on rock

Dumpy's Rusty Nut
Re-reading the Liz Evans intro to this anthology (Pandora/HarperCollins 1997), which I think says that while the 90s was seeing a positive change in the gender balance in rock and pop, it was hard to argue with 30 years of male domination, it's hard not to feel that whatever was going on then has been ruthlessly headed off.

Artists mentioned were Bjork, Justine Frischmann, Polly Harvey, Courtney Love, Shirley Manson, Skin, Kat Bjelland. Journo-wise there were 21 contributions by 16 women including Sheryl Garrat, Mary Anne Hobbs, Miranda Sawyer, Suzanne Moore and Sylvia Patterson.

Is it worse or the same now? Shurely it ain't got any better?
