Paris - record shops

Hi, another request from me. I'm off to Paris for a few days at the weekend. Anyone got any tips for record shops? The best my Rough Guide can come up with is Virgin Megastore; I'm thinking more like MVE ...

Cheers!

Paris record stores

If y're looking for 2nd-hand stuff (faves are ***) :

***Le rideau de fer, here for ages, loads of stuff, all genres, nice prices, pepits pop up each time I dig there. Take your time!

***Parallèles, another classic oldie, po/rock/new vave/funk, i found amazing records there (Viv Goldman, Jac Berrocal, Wyatt's'Animal Film') for cheap.

Gilda, a few streets near Parallèles, cousin shop, more world/old french 7", worth a visit.

La Dame blanche, classical/contemp'/jazz/prog stuff, if y're lucky you can find stuff too.

***Exodisc, same genre as Crocodisc, but cheaper, nice people.

Silly Melody, in the basement, soul/hip hop/brasilian/soundtracks stuff.

But the best shop is ***Bimbo Tower, you can't avoid a visit!!!

:D I thought you'd come up with something SMorlighem! Some great looking tips here - lots of opportunities to drop some Euros.

haha - no, I'm looking to come back with plenty of vinyl without spending too much, so I might give Monster Melodies a miss...

Thanks for all the info.

One of the best distributors I know is in Paris: Toolbox. www.toolboxrecords.com
30 rue St. ambroise.. they used to be in the back of a recordstore that would carry some of their catalog.. heavy on the breakcore, noise, experimental.. also High Tone and other dub experiments. really knowledgable and good people.

You might could check their catalog online and then come by to pick it up.. save on shipping costs.. I dunno if they still do that. But can't recommend it enough for selection.
