OK, I feel like this may be the only place where I can get the answer to this. Bundy K Brown did a remix of The Sea and Cake which includes a bunch of samples (and weird, lazy cuts) of tracks off Herbie Hancock's 'Thrust'.
In the middle of the mix there's a lengthy spoken sample of an American man talking about how he's surrounded himself with electronic gadgets because he's had this streak in him ever since he wanted to be an engineer. It sounds like it could well be Herbie Hancock as well, based on the subject matter.
Does anyone know?
