Cubaton

The other day I came across this "Cubaton" compilation.

It documents a cuban take on reggaeton, and i like it more than the
puerto rican original. i have no idea how big the cuban reggaeton scene might
be or how representative this compilation is. but there's something distinct
about cuban songwriting and melodic phrasing that i find amazing, and even
a heavy does of jamaican influence (broader, more 70s orientated than in
the reggaeton i've heard before) can't mask it. I wonder if there's more stuff
like this. and: where in london does this music get played? cuban music is so
hard to get hold of here.

interesting.. where did yuo come across this? any chance of posting up a sample of one of the tunes or something? i definitely imagined cuban reggaeton to be more sophisticated that puerto rican stuff. apparently its massive in cuba right now.

I read about it in the german newspaper TAZ a couple of days ago. the album is on soulseek (at least CD1, didn't manage to get hold of CD2).

I got it off Bit Torrent (you can find it if you search for reggaeton at torrentspy.com), gotta say I didn't really like it, and prefer the Puerto Rican stuff. Had a listen through and deleted it.
