Upping the ante!

Yesmate! Looks absolutely wicked, and the cover is great.

Great to see some proper 90s business. I've been hauling that era out recently myself and have a new theory about 95 and 98 being amongst the best years for reggae ever.

Was listening to Ragga Ragga Ragga 12 yesterday, in fact. "Soca Noma" is bonkers, I thought he was saying "sarcoma" as in cancer for ages. :)

You have made my week, guv!

Praise from Caesar! This makes it all worthwhile...

Yer OTM on the 90's - though I reckon Id widen your catergory a bit to 93-95, and get all the various versions of the bogle in.

Some more 90's pressure coming soon - jah willing...

What genre is the first tune? Happy hardcore?

Nah - its full of breakbeats! There was a relatively short lived subcategory of electronica in the mid to late 90's which consisted of hyperfast jungle beats with cartoon/ironic/fucked up hooks, and was dubbed 'drill+bass' by some accursed music journalist... Mu-ziq (who did the tune on the mix)/Aphex Twin/Squarepusher/Amon Tobin & Jega were probably the most well known exponents.

Theres a (rather shoddy) explanation/excuse behind the inclusion that tune on the blog btw! :D

Loving this Droid, thanks. Used to have Capleton's Mankind on a tape from my big bro back in the day. Very happy to hear it again.

I'm surprised by how calm and spacious the rythyms are. Nice.

Although I'm not keen on the first track, the rest of this mix is just ludicrously good. Absolutely firing. What a golden age of dancehall that was, eh?

Hi Nine - Havent had a chance to get back to your PM yet. Will do so at lunch.

Cant help much with That Pisces 7", I picked it up in a box of '10 for a pound' 7"s in Daddy Kool's years back..

The Bagpipe should be easier to track down. It was licensed by Greensleeves, (who released a 12" of Year 4), plus a slew of 7"s. Ive got Bagpipe 7's on Steely and Cleevie's as well - plus, multiple Bagpipes tunes appear on Ragga, Ragga, Ragga 14 (I think). You might find it buried on Ebay or on in the catalogues of some online German reaggae store, or if you live in London, in one of the shops under the bridge in Brixton (assuming that they're still there...).

Might even be worth emailing Greensleeves, they can be quite helpful (if they reply at all).

I've emailed them about sevens a few times and got no response. Let me know if they get back to you!

It's Ragga Ragga Ragga 12, though, innit? (The one we stole the cover for for the "Lyric Maker" mix).

Droid - will reply to your PM soon as well!

I mailed them years ago looking for 7's, they got back to me after about a week, and when I asked (in all seriousness) for 'any instrumental 7's from the last four years', they mysteriously failed to reply. :D i dont think they're too down with those whole internet thing... maybe a phone call would be worth the hassle?

Whoops - think you're right there.

No worries...
