ok this isn't exactly obscure and the album itself isn't supposed to be all that (I haven't heard it) but I think this stands out amongst recent fare: simple but catches your attention like nothing else. Trevor Jackson's finest moment?

gatefold almost lovelier. though ulmer's "oddyssey" is the better record.

Agree with Woebot on the Ulmer. How horrifying to discover that my digital "upgrade" on DIW entirely abandoned the comic style:

i actually bought the album because i saw a half-page ad in OMM for it a couple of months back. the cover and the choice of typeface used on the ad (an early-saville-esque italicised serif thing) sealed it for me.

the cover and the typeface on the ad are by far the best thing about it ;)

nobody has ever come close to peter saville IMHO, though. re-acquaint yourself with some of his finest moments here:

the Trevor Jackson appreciation thread?

Was blown away by this acid-era design when i noticed it was by the same Bite It designers who appear to be none other than Trevor Jackson!

I'm with you there grimly, though I have to admit Trevor Jackson has talent, there's definately something of a Saville influence there. Saville once said this is his favourite cover art, which is wierd because it's mine as well.
