Ooer.. starting a new thread for a guitar band.. what a scary thought.

However, whoever mentioned these guys before, was otm... I had the name stored in the back of my mind, and was quite impressed with what i heard when they finally popped up on the radio this arvo (after multiply of all things). Been a while since i've heard an aussie band you can sink your teeth into a bit.

Long story short, I think theyre heading round europe at the moment, so i'd urge peeps to check them out.

Yes check them out! Most exciting and intense Aussie band since the Dirty Three (who are a one-trick pony) and 'Prayers on Fire' era Birthday Party. The sound like L.A swamp experts CLAWHAMMER meets BIRTHDAY PARTY meets COME or CELL with some elements of SONIC YOUTH and maybe GALLON DRUNK but their sound is very crunchy and noisy..They have an incredible live sound and their records are great too, and lead singer Gareth has a totally unique singing style, sorta like Shane McGowan meets a younger hollering Nick Cave minus the private-schoolboy pretension. They are truly the best guitar and singularly visionary guitar band from Australia for a long, long time. Trust me.

thirded - best rock band from australia in a LONG time. minikomi, i guess you didn't get the chance to see them when they were in adelaide about three weeks ago? i missed 'em, for which i am kicking myself, particularly as they're off overseas for a while now. signed to ATP/R, people, so the next record should get some decent coverage/distribution/etc.

buick6 hit the nail on the head re: what they sound like. i'd say they were miles better than the dull, drab dirty three as well.
