James Lee Burke recommendations?

Loved 'neon rain' and yearn for more. Could any fans recommend some of his finer, tougher, darker books? Cheers B6

I don't think there has been a weak Robicheaux book yet (although the latest one "Crusader's Cross" is not yet in the household), so you might as well start at the beginning? A
Chronlogical list of Burke's novels.

If not try "Last Car to Elysian Fields", the gothic "In the Electric Mist with the Confederate Dead", "Jolie Blon's Bounce" and "A Stained White Radiance". Avoid his short story collection "The Convict" (Burkes' style is not suited for short stories).

Lee Burke's Robicheaux series is just like Stina Nordenstam record releases for me - I "subscribe" and have not yet been disappointed.
