Beast of Burden
not read anything in it yet: a story by stephen daly on the birth of rap (herc, flash, bam, sugarhill etc), a wallopping great big picture portfolio and an interview with beyonce. i'm not exactly expecting to learn anything but the photographs (mary j, outkast, nas and lots of other folks) are really excellent. actually marc baptiste's shot of eve is worth the price of the mag alone, to be perfectly honest. funny how hip-hop exists in so many different spheres now, too - how this music can still be relevant to kids on the street and absolutely accepted into the establishmen like this.
