Quite cool web page here with all his "classic Victor sides" available as RealAudio streams. Kind of fascinating stuff, as is the case with these major musical figures, thats to say people who "invent" a style their work often transcends the cliches. That was something I experienced strongly with Ellington and the big band stuff (which seemed so off-putting in many instances).

That said the slower pieces are cooler.

I presume you've heard Louis Armstrong's Hot 5's & 7's recordings from the late 20's - including one bizarre track where a Jamaican-accented chap interrupts the song (first JA chat/DJ on record?!) plus another called Muggles (New Orleans slang for ganja)... :cool:
