Let yer freak folk fly..

too punk to drunk
Just read SR's article in the voice. As usual, love the werk - always one step ahead of the brat-pack. Personally I find the whole 'mystique' of the genre more compelling than the work itself, though Forced Exposure have been pushing the barrow for a long-long time. I see it as an extension of that whole Chicago-lo-fi Drag City thang, mind you Drag City seem to be releasing alot of the genre.

I remember in the early 90s some more druggy hipster here in Melbourne were getting heavy into that early 70s UK folk like Fairport Convention, Nick Drake, Linda and Richard Thompson, it's interesting to note how much of that folky-psych stuff was released, and how post-thumously a genre comes back to life. I have no problem with that , as long as they re-print great, 'lost' albums to debunk the crapola going on today - more power to 'em (Forced Exposure catalogue seem to be good @ that too!)

It's interesting how psychadelic music never goes out of vouge. Part of the reason I love it so much!
