Germans on ebay

Whilst I have a great love for German people, beer, music and philosophers I am often vexed by German ebayers who, for reasons which currently elude me, seem unable to set up paypal accounts. Instead, bank transfer (at huge cost) seems to be the norm.

Has anyone else noticed this or have I just been unlucky?

Can anyone explain why it is (and why it only seems to be Germans)?

It all seems a bit shortsighted.

And it pisses me off.

you haven't been unlucky-it's a German thang- though god knows why????

Grievous Angel

Beast of Burden
I vaguely remember something about German banking laws making PayPal difficult to do in Germany but I could be completely wrong...

Well that would be a good reason, I guess. You would think it would be in the interests of business etc to sort that out, though?

Looks like there has been a german paypal site since 2003!

me too... generally i try to convince those german sellers to be sent hidden euro cash instead (not recommended!!!! postmen are greedy....), or i just don't bet, since bank transfers and such are such a pain and also i don't have time
