Badiou as Novelist

I am always intrigued where I see refenence to Badiou being a novelist/playwright as well as a philosopher. Has anybody read any of the non-philosophical work? What are they Like? I read recently that Badiou only has an interest in art of the most austere kind so I presume that he doesn't write thrillers or chick-lit but I may be wrong. Sadly my French is not up to scratch for reading them myself so can any of the better educated dissensians give me a flavour of the works.

not had time to plough through them - unlike the philosophy, it looks like the novels are written in a kind of baroque comedic style. Apparently, according to the couple of people I know who have read them, they're extremely funny and involve lots of sex and some penguins.

The plays do seem to be put on in France quite often too, so I suppose they must be quite successful.
