5) Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not 2006

Ok its NME, so you know what to expect, but how can they say in the same week of its release ( I think) that Artic Monkeys is no. 5 in the 'All time' best British albums. This pole seems to have been done as an attempt to legitimise the hype around Arctic monkeys.

Beatles White album at 36, yeah right.

What, the Public Enemy from Southend? Yeah, 'England's Glory' was a great Oi! album.

Yeah obviously that's what I meant cos it's British albums, innit.

"Coughing Up Fire" is better than most of those albums.

It's better than all of them. Who's truthfully ever bought a copy of, never mind listened to, 'Odessey and Oracle' by the Zombies? They just saw the name and stuck it in the list cos it sounds a bit wooohhhhh.

How does no 78 qualify as a "forgotten" gem, exactly?

= forgotten by the NME.

Until now!

It must be good because it's a bit like what Radiohead were doing with Kid A, of course (tho obviously not as good).
