Well the *best* right-wing or neo-con or whatever tarred and feathered label you wanna diss him with rock-crit is Chris Stigliano of Black 2 Comm, without any doubt.
http://www.black2com.blogspot.com/
Mind you he doesn't regard himself as a rock-crit per-se, more as an enlightened fan. Some of his rants can be pretty painful, but his reactionary fevour is mightily hilarious, entertaining and amazingly INFORMED, compared to all the Johnny-Wankers that pose as 'rock crits', 'post modern culture analysts' or 'Village Voice elitists with the 'best-taste-and-no-taste' and their often duller-than-dishwater critiques or unfunny in-joke banter...Stigliano seems to be some guy who's slightly bitter he didn't get the breaks he prolly deserves and in some ways a vicitm of the shithouse culture-vultures-editors and other whatever hipster/hicksters that work the media.
when I want the skinny on truly fucken great 'rock' or 'avant' music, he's one of the first amerigan crits I'll read (Coley is unfortunately MIA, and I don't really read THE WIRE). If I want trendy/shmendy UK muzik and Euro/electro stuff, then I'll read Reynolds, coz he's know his shit, or will go out and discover it.
It's hard to be *totally* right-wing and dig rock coz it's all about *freedom* and the fact that the emotions rock works on are so primal and against the grain of truly right-wing repressive/control desires.
But right wing or not, these two guys deserve gainful employment for their astute and rockin' rock scribings, unlike some boring hack like Michael Goldberg, or some of the drongos that do it for the Stone
