What is 'Nu-Pop'?

I always think of twee C86 indie pop, that Brit-crits loved to drool over as 'Pure POP' or whatever (kinda strange coz pop is meant to be popular)...

But scuze my ignorance, but I'm not up with all the new streams of muzik, so who exactly are these 'new pop' bands..And don't say the Arsenic Monkeys or Ben Lee..!
