hmm that's interesting. though i guess either which way i'm not too bothered. the media interest thing, it has its charms but gets less interesting. i'm just glad i found the medium as its a great way of scratching that itch, and somehow feels more purposeful than doing a fanzine (global village idiot...)

That's a weird headline. Broadsheet journalists are a tiny minority of the population but no one's suggesting for a minute that newspapers are over-hyped...

Although I agree there's more hype in the UK without the blogs to back it up. There are some good special interest/news/campaign blogs in the UK, but nothing like on the same level as in the US. And for music and arts writing, most of the best still comes from outside the UK. Per capita I reckon Australia and Canada are leading the way here, but that's my own feeling.
