BOREDOMS reissues

seahorsegenius

It's just me.
"Super Roots 3 (1994), consisting of one 33 minute track, and Super Roots 5 (1995) consisting of one 64 minute track, will come first, followed quickly by the release of Super Roots 6 (1996), previously released in the US by Reprise but now out of print, and the singles and remixes found on Super Roots 7 (1998) and Super Roots 8 (1999).

I've been waiting for this for a loooong time.

heh heh. Maybe you're thinking of the early stuff?? Later on there is quite a lot, actually, some of which is even suitable for playing while going to sleep (like Super Roots 6). My favorites are actually these. Chocolate Synthesizer: though it's got a bit of the seizure-like quality you mention to it, it is very controlled and clear, nice sounds. Super Ae: just a beautiful record and trancy. Those are best with Pop Tatari running a close second for pure anarchy, gets me open. I can't say I really listen to much others anymore. I advise you to skip their most recent stuff (Seadrum), which is pretty bad IMO. People love also Vision Creation Newsun, which is a pretty easy listen, but I don't find it as interesting as earlier stuff personally.

Going down to see these guys on the 11th. I have fairly high hopes.

thanks for the mini primer... I've heard that those guys are actually virtuosic players, and only ACT retarded because... well I'm not sure why... probably has something to do with dada or absurdist theater or whatnot... or ganja

I wouldn't say that I'm a fan in general but the Super Roots Seven thing is ace. It's a massive motorik remix/cover of Where Were You by the Mekons that goes on for about twenty minutes with the guitar bit dropping in and out over a neu-esque drum machine, really mad and heavy but really fucking cool. I've just paid a silly amount of money for a copy from ebay. Maybe that description doesn't make it sound listenable but I think it is.

"Everyone at the Threshold House store is excited to announce that we
will soon have stock of new pressings of some of the most popular Coil
CDs, including Musick to Play in the Dark Vols 1 & 2, COIL-ANS and the
recent "...and the ambulance died in his armsl."

Not only that but we are, for the first time, releasing official deluxe
one and a half disc versions of the rare Remote Viewer and Black
Antlers albums. Originally these were intended to be sold only at Coil
shows, and came only on CD-R. More recently they change hands on ebay
for as much as £200. Collectors will want to know that these new
editions each contain as much as 20 minutes of additional material
culled from contemporaneous archives and assembled in Thailand by Peter
Christopherson and Danny Hyde, and are packaged in double weight
wallets, yet will be available from our store for just £10.
