 The US pursues agressive and intrusive neo-colonial policies in East Africa:

For the first time since the Somali-Ethiopia Proxy cold wars of the 70s - an 'ideological' conflict is killing 100's in Somalia - the 'anti-terror' coalition vs the islamic courts in mogadishu

While Eritrea blames the US for lack of progress in resolving their border dispute...

meles say 'who me?' :p

& while the US firms up chummy relations with Libya, Gadhaffi backs both sides, cementing his role as african strongman while his proxys pillage across the Sahel spreading the darfur conflict and sponsoring regional instability

yeah Tisdall in the graun t'other day quoted Dowden from the Royal African Society about So much time and effort was put into getting this government in place...[n]ow the US seems to be pulling it all to pieces by setting one side against the other.

re. the USA in the Horn, you want a lot more than a letter from their man in Kenya saying 'oh no we're not stirring anything up in Somalia, no sir'.
