okay, so i've been a bit quiet lately but i'm loving vybz kartel's faggot correction on the steps rhythm and pretty much everything on the indian summer right now. anyone else got any hot tips?

Kartel's Correction is definately my favourite on Stepz. I like how Renaissance skipped up the rhythm just for him, even after all the beef they were having.

Tips...hmm... Viagra Dose rhythm by Big Yard. Out now on vinyl and a lazy but complete mix is on my site if you're curious. Ce'cile's track with Shaggy and Ward 21's track with Wayne Marshall (ode de Tupac & Dre) are the big ones!
Tami's "If You" on Tighty Tighty, new up and coming Ragga n B singer, great voice, catchy chune.
TOK's "Ride My Pony" on 20 Dolla a Bunch produced my DJ Karim, brother of one of the Renaissance boys, excellent beat and vocal stylings.
Bounty Killer's "Stand Firm Part 2" on Middle East, prod. by Buccaneer and Blaxxx (Blackout).
More recentely, Military rhythm prod. by Chris Birch (Salsa, Thrilla). My current toppa top rhythm right now. So so many great voicings on this: General Degree, Cecile, Assassin, Kartel (x2, one a remix of Buddy Nuh Done from Allo Allo), Bounty (x2, one a remix of Stand Firm Part 2 mentioned above), Frisco Kid, TOK, Ward 21 (funny shit), Tami, Macka Diamond... too many. A mix will be up on the site soon. 1Xtra's dancehall shows have had it on recentely. Check Thursday at 7pm, Robbo's bound to play it.
Katana rhythm by Tony Kelly: haven't heard much of this but is sounding nice from the first 30 seconds of the Voicemail/Delly Ranks track.

I could go on forever but I won't, hehe. Hope this will getcha started.

chhers dan i got the military and katana - rather meant i'd not waffled on about this stuff enough rather than that i'd not been buying. anyone here heard that stupid fire links production called chukka chukka or chakka chakka. it's fucking rubbish but funny.

I only got the Katana last night. What cuts should I stick on repeat? Chaka Chaka....hahaha... it took me a few listens but it's grown on me. Purely for comedic purposes. Hardly something I can shout "pull up" at. Beenie rides this surprisingly well. I got two versions of Military actually, one was full of uncut versions+the extra Kartel rmx.

I've been slacking lately. Last night was my first browse of the latest stuff available in weeks. If you haven't already, get Double Barrel, new Don Corleon.

i really like tanya's "female pimping" on the katana and bounty's "stamina man". it's a dope rhythm, by tony kelly, who did the sashi (chi chi man rhythm), in case you didn't know.

and Buy Out (Like Glue), Grindin and mighty Bookshelf (Deport Them). When the drawl known as Object Oriented Programming ends I'll run home and blast Katana. I think I heard Bounty's track on 1Xtra last night (I was in another room). Does it go "billilililing bilililing"?

For me it's all about Pepperseed, which is probably really old, I've no idea... did a megamix of it last night by editing a tape from John Eden, absolutely firing.

Is it slow because it's a big file or cuz the speed is slow? I usually get the maximum I can from my site. I have no idea how to check bandwidth or how much domain space I have. Bought it through a middle man =/

VP LP tracklistings

A quick query... does anyone know a website which lists both the CD and double LP tracklistings for VP Riddim Driven albums?

I've put my name down for a Stepz 12" but don't know if it has any extra tracks than the CD version. 16 tracks seems a little odd for a double LP.

the vinyls usually have less than the cds, especially vp's riddim driven series coz they're not doubles

Mad Instruments Riddim Driven CD had 3 less tracks than the LP version. I only own one Riddim Driven album, Time Travel. That's only one LP but the CD had the same 10 tracks.

"Tai Chi" is a double album, as is the one with the annoying opera sample which I won in a competition... ah "Rematch".

The riddim driven site includes tracklisting with an * for bonus CD tracks (see "Party Time" for an example).

my top picks at the moment are the military rhythm, particularly the TOK and ce'cile versions. it's a great martial, snare-driven instrumental with no little amount of bombast. bounty killer smashes it, too, on "warlord walk", though i think the best voicing by him of late is "it's ok" on don corleon's drop leaf.
i flat-out adore this and sizzla's "got to be strong". the rhythm's pretty slow and laid-back, on a classic reggae tip so all the voicings are pretty loved-up, apart from tanya stephens', which is all about taking her errant husband for every penny he's got - a must-have for lines like "you telling all your friends you have a bitchy wife, but now i'm going to clean you out just like lionel ritchie wife" and "i'll take the car, the house and the children, your screwdivers and your power drill dem"!
best yet, though is lenky's bubble up. honestly, it's fucking berserk - actually quite difficult to give a blanket description of what the rhythm is like because although all versions are at the same techno-speed, diwali-hanclap-driven tempo, it's a lenky trademark to alter the instrumentation for every voicing. here the overhauls are pretty radical, though. elephant man's sounds like a bus crashing into a branch of toys r us with him singing to the tune of "will you still love me tomorrow" over the top, chico's is all filigree chords, floaty harmonies and heartfelt "i wanna be your loverman" business, but bling dawg's "we aint scared" is absolutely tearing, splattered with real intense ed-rush and optical-style sub-bass roars. anyone else feeling anything much?

Wheeeew that lenky riddim is craaaazy. One of my friends here at school is jamaican and she just recommended me bubble up and promised to burn me her favorite tracks this year so I'll let you all know if I make any big discoveries!

Also I think Chico is like my favorite dj ever!!!

I've been talking about this track and saying it was the wrong riddim etc. forever but "Wrapped Up" over the BUSH FIRE riddim is beautiful. Also loving his voicing on bubble up of course.
