Can anyone recommend me some novels that treat with the topics of knowlegde and/or memory (in the broadest sense of both words). I found 'Vladimir Nabokov - Speak, memory' yet, but there should be plenty more, less obvious works - I presume.

ooooo I have this collection of the best pieces and excerpts on memory... edited together to form a cohesive volume... it's the coolest thing... from Freud to Shakespear to Thomas Mann to Virginia Wolf. I'll get you the title when I get home.

Unfortunately I can't find any complete edition of Proust's "À la recherche du temps perdu" in my mothertongue (dutch). Especially the fact that the first part aint for sale anymore is very upsetting. I considered buying the whole lot in french, but that might be just a bit too courageous.

Thanks for suggesting borges, though. I will surely check him out.

Martin Amis' Time's Arrow attempts to unfold a narrative that moves backward in time, and is frequently mentioned when experiments in narrative temporality come under discussion
