Was wondering if anyone could recommend some mellow, minimalist classical music with piano. I've been listending to Mark Hollis's solo album and Michael Nymans's 'Decay Music' and Ligeti's stuff off the 'Eyes Wide Shut' soundtrack and was wondering which composers did work of a similar nature and which Cd's are avaialble. Many thanks with yr recommendations. B6.

cage's 'in a landscape' kills everything else, also other early cage

there is always the rest of ligeti's 'musica ricercata' (from eyes wide shut)

some of messiaen's or debussy's preludes if you want to go earlier, or liszt's 'nuages gris' which is also on the 'eyes wide shut' soundtrack and you might even have mistaken it for ligeti cos it's so harmonically anachronistic, shit

confucius posted in another thread this site with young's 'equal tempered clavier' which is something else! thanks to him (go to end of that page)

i might up some cage mp3s if anyone wants

Try Guerdjieff & de Hartmann.

Apparently Guerdjieff was some kind of occult mystical guru. That shouldn't scare you off though, the music doesn't really reflect that enough to be disturbing. It's rather a collection of really basic, but emotionally rich piano plays -rhythmically structured in an interesting way. Anyway, judge for yourself.
