I have some stuff like Noise Factory and Kemet Crew in the early jungle vein, what of the earlier hardkore sounds? Any recommendations?

ML says this about the selection:

"The podcast features 1 hour of 1993 underground hardcore and early drum n bass tunes (no anthems). The tunes selected are personal to me and are some of my favourites from that time. 1993 was a key year for me and the year I first really got into hardcore/dnb music and the rave scene.
This set is also inspired by and dedicate to the old London pirate radio station
Pulse 90.6 fm, which broadcasted between August 1991 and August 1995."

feel the en-er-gee rush up to your face

got the keep the fire burn-ing (cut the midrange, drop the bass)

close your eyes, forget the world etc

in a sweet harmony, in a sweet harmony

i like to smoke marijuana, it gives me a deep meditation

those are some things i remember liking listening to on the radio.

Probably the most magical moment for me is 1993 darkside, when rave has fully imploded but jungle proper has yet to be parsed out. Polyglot mayhem and on-the-spot invention. Look for AWOL @ Paradise sets - Kenny Ken, Randall, GQ, etc.

E.G.
Randall & Kenny Ken w/ GQ and Fats, Winter 1993 http://www.themixingbowl.org/topics.php?action=viewtopic&topicid=33108 (one of the best recordings of anything ever, imo)

grooverider at helter skelter 1991 is one of my favourites.
also top buzz @ oscars 1992. "it's gonna be hardcore for the next hour and a half"

you might find these at the mixing bowl.

And.... If Mr. Bassnation would put his Hardcore Rewind sets back online you'd have a proper crash course in 91-92 business. (;) *nudge nudge* Marc)

Also, I did these darkside posts and a few others a couple of years ago...
