Bond: Casino Royale

hmm i liked it, a very dark film with black humour. very much bond in reverse.
quite a guilty film. i like the lead. The card game scene was extremley gripping. Good drinks jokes. Lots of excellent twists.

It's like the guys at the studio saw Batman Begins and thought "hey, that was pretty good. let's do that too."

agree with these things. i was nowhere near the edge of my seat by the venice scene, too many climaxes already. and the animated intro sequence was really really poor.

but i think there were aspects of it which were really great.

i thought that daniel craig, while poor in the more intimate moments, was excellent in the portrayal of bond's brutish, repressed character.

i also thought the general drive of the film was very interesting and took substantial bravery on the part of the producer(s).

the opening scene i also thought was superb. i wish they would make a whole bond in that style, it was brilliant. stunning cinematography, real depth and darkness

The credit sequence would have been great if not for the terrible theme music! argh...

I liked it. And whatshisname, The New Bond was great/cheesey in a good way. Not such a pretty boy, more brutal and physical.

20 minutes too long, and the affair between Bond and Eva Greens character wasn't treated quite right.

And of course there was the homo-eroticism between Bond and the villain. Thats a given...

Very Freudian movies, the Bond series. Sex and Death via an entirely masculine protagonist.

I like Daniel Craig, but this was a poor man's Layer Cake. There is only one way to resuscitate the Bond franchise:

Whoever the next Bond is, under no circumstance should he be: A - Caucasian, or B - a man.

That'll be the next move I think... Jane Bond.
