Obviously there's an art boom on at the moment
The other night Christie's Impressionist and modern art auction
had the biggest night in art auction history - $491 million , give or take a few million
Featured among the sales were paintings by Klimt recently returned to heirs of the original owners including Portrait Of Adele Bloch Bauer 2 (1912, $87.9 million)
also Klimt's Birch Forest painting (40 million).
Gauguin sold well and German painter Ernst Ludwig Kirchner's 'Street Scene Berlin' was bought for 38 million , a record I believe for the artist .
I am glad this artist Kirchner's work is being seen again ,
a by product of the sales coverage , have always loved his works ,
have a Neue Galerie postcard of his Potsdamer Platz 1914 Oil on canvas somewhere in the room here

Also last wkend , indie Printed Matter held their Art Book Fair in the DIA building space
with dozens of the world's best Art Book makers

Chelsea's got many new buildings that have already recently gone up or are on their way towards opening , Gehry's IAC buildings , the Chelsea Art Tower

The Black World show @ Bellwether Gallery @ 134 10th Avenue was good too.
the set of videos on monitors worked best Zoom lensed POL's of unmarked planes out across shimmering desert heat
Leaving the Gallery we looked up to see two black Wart Hog attack planes fly across the Highline in front in us and swerving out and up the Hudson river
