Robert Anton Wilson RIP

I needed something light to pass the time so I ended up rereading the illuminatus trilogy over the last three days. I enjoyed it. Bit of wincing naturally, but enjoyed it. The plague vector, Carmel, eats some bats. That's a nice bit of synchronicity. Another is that it's set at the end of April.

I recently learned my dad read both that and Ben Watson's Frank Zappa book and hated both. He was ranting about them last time I spoke to him and I was like "Wait, Ben Watson? I'm sure I know someone who knows that guy... ".

have to say i thought illuminatus trilogy was good when i read it, but not as good as i was hoping it would be. i think i read it straight after finishing 'gravitys rainbow' as well, which didn't help. it felt too frivolous and scattered.

He said it was written by someone "desperate to insert themselves into the Zappa story whilst showing off the contents of their bookshelf".
