Autechre, a.k.a. 'the music of Erich Zann'?

Mr. Tea

Let's Talk About Ceps
It may seem like a cultural association more often made with dodgy heavy metal, but does anyone else get a really Lovecraftian vibe from some of the tracks on Autechre's first album, Incunabula?

I'm talking here about the sheer mysteriousnous of some of the music: the low, subtly menacing basslines, unintelligible snatches of distorted dialog, the spooky synths that remind me of the Doctor Who theme or the more atmospheric tracks by, say, Kraftwerk or Gary Numan. Cold, unearthly, alien - but never stepping into the realm of gothic(k) cheesyness.

Track 10, Lowride, is the epitome of this - listening to it, you can almost feel nameless entities seeping down from fathomless dimensions beyond mortal ken, etc. etc. etc. Sure, Lovecraft was a pulp writer through and through, but you can't deny the evocativeness of his language, and to me this album is, in a sense, the auditory equivalent. Anyone once read his stuff/got this record?
