just got back from the Shadetek release party at 205, this should be tied in w/ the grime thread, where everyone was bigupping the new Shadetek/Skepta 10"... Jahdan and 77Klash performed Brooklyn Anthem, it was wicked...

um, yeah, the news is true, Tonic is closing. i don't blame them. they have been fighting a losing battle against development in that neighborhood for yeats, they have gotten raided by the cops plenty, and the owners just had a baby. time to cut their losses and quit while ahead. and really, their lease was not for much longer anyway, so if it didn't happen now, it would have happened in 8 months or so... Pure Fire is looking for a new venue, most probably in Brooklyn, most probably as a monthly... it's so much work doing a weekly, we did it for almost 2 years, so it's def. time to take it down a notch...
