I'm an oldie so I still call it ragga...

Watched 'Shottaz' last night and just thought, god, there's been so much digital dancehall - post 'Sleng Teng' - come out, what are people's favourites? Is there an all-time top 100 dancehall tunes list?

An obvious choice, but Who Say Mi Dun is perfection itself.

The first Beenie Man tunes I ever heard were Music A de Beat and No Mama No Cry and I don't think he ever topped them (though I do like Year 4 a lot).

And Tempo by Red Rose (which some say was recorded before Sleng Teng but released later).

Pirate's Anthem is great. I loved that sound Gussie Clarke had c88/9. Also what two Friends came with straight after. Going Is Rough & Another One For The Road are both massive.

Special patriotic mention to Request the Style too.

sou'wester
Pon Mi Nozzle - Cutty Ranks (if you're at a kind of 'fun hippy party' this will clear the floor in under 30 seconds)
Rude Boy Soldier - Tony Rebel
God Mi Love - Capleton
She Give Me Hiccup - Tiger and Gregory

So true.

"5) Buju Banton - Batty Rider" ???!!

LOL... oh Buju, why would you even bother dedicating a song to something that bothers you so much? Meh, at least the message kind of gets lost in the patois for most people.

Is Buju against little shorts? God, I know I am.

On the (ahem) other side of things, Punny Printer by Panhead is a good 'un.

Batty riders are arse-hugging shorts. Nowt to do with boys, thankfully.

LOL... yeah, I did look for the lyrics and couldn't find them. Somehow the name just seemed it might be about something else... ahem.
