He's always well ahead with the right idea is kode 9 yet he's seen as a bit of a maverick, when you get people like burial on your label and kevin martins stuff, you shouldn't be considered a maverick. loads of styles from reggae like to detroity and minimal and the bits inbetween, and massivley up and rhythmic it's a killer.

I'm gonna try to pick this up on cd in Barca next week - sure a hi-quality version will be floating about soon though.

Biggest selection I've heard in ages and ages and ages, and Kode 9's new tracks are totally indicative of where I want things to head, but he still can't mix for shit.

bollocks it's seamless on this mix apart from about 2 which are fine a bit clappy but at least it shows hes alive. smoothness isn't everything selection is more important/

the Burial track (stairwell) is wonderful (urban gamelan)- when's that out?
the shackleton track edges toward Skam territory
the download quality i've got aint the best where can i get the mag?

That track 'fuck you' has been around for ages hasn't it? I like it.

I like the fact 9 has fairly straightforward/basic mixing skills. Makes me feel better about my own poor ones:cool:

The Doom rmx robs all the dynamism and flow out of his voice, don't think it works that well.

Disk 2 on this has the most shocking mixing and key-clashes ever....

We can't be listening to the same mix. When he isn't doing some kind of fade he is beat matching for about 8 bars and cutting at awkward moments making for really clunky transitions. If he isn't doing that he's drenching the track he's mixing out of in effects and carrying it on for way too long.

He has a great head on his shoulders, and I will big him up every time for encouraging dubstep to leave this whole wubwubwubwubwubwubwub thing that too many people are getting way too serious about.

Great producer.

Poor DJ.

in terms of technical skills, he isnt great, i dont think this necessarily makes him a poor dj. his selection is interesting and id rather have that than flawless technique.

I completely agree selection should be a first priority.
It just helps when the technical side pulls through too.

Know what else is so amazing about this mix?

There are only a handful of unreleased tunes, yet it still sounds so new.

Dubstep needs to start paying attention!!!

No more cut-up rap vocals, dancehall and reggae remixes, and endless wobble bass.
