Good Audio Input Device for Powermac G5

Sorry. Techie question.

I've been using an M-Audio Firewire Audiophile for a few years.

Although I finally managed to get it to adjust the Line Input levels (see older, also boring thread) it fails to work every time the Mac goes to sleep.

I hate it. With a passion.

I have no slots for cards. But need a decent device to get Audio in and out (maybe with a tube amp in it).

Can anyone recommend something?

Good firewire based audio interface manufacturers:

MOTU (you can pick up an ultralite for around 350 quid, or look for an old 828 on ebay - they're really solid)
RME (fireface 400 is around 500 quid)

I don't know of any with a tube gain stage, though it's unlikely that you'll find high quality tubes in such a device, hence best to avoid imo. The preamps on the MOTU interfaces aren't anything special, but you'll get better value investing in a seperate tube stage.
