7/7/77 Tanabata night

It shimmered , it rocked , it soared and it looked pretty cool from above on the Brooklyn Bridge !
I was going to be one of the 77 but pulled out when the real logistics came down
( load in at 8:30 , show @ 7 PM after white hot sun all day )
8000 people est. (!) and we saw many stranded outside .

Overheard: One of NYPD's finest ' We wouldn't let anyone in if 1000 people came out'
Grrr ...

i knew one of the drummers who participated, so i was lucky enough to get on the vip list and circumvent the regular line. it was the longest line i ever seen in my life, easily snaking a half-dozen city blocks. my girlfriend, who was also in the vip list, got there at 6:30 and wasn't allowed in!

my drummer friend said they got 18,000 rsvps for a 3,300 capacity space. the park police were pretty over the top because there was plenty of space inside for at least another 500-1,000 or so people.

lots of filming taking place, so i'm sure a dvd in in the offering...

ummm ya. this flippin rocked ! got there like 4-5ish. thought i was going to be late cause of the parking situation, still.. fortunately i had the slipp also. my boy is with vise-mag, the co-host of the gig..
but that line was absurd.. like he said it was blocks and blocks worth. so many cats that i was just walking and thinking what the fuck are all these fools doing?? i couldn't even imagine that they were there all for this!!
