Piece about the origins of techno on radio 4

Got a bit annoyed at the posh voice telling me rave happened because of Thatcher. A variety of factors at work, surely? And the way the same old stories about house/detroit/kraftwerk etc get trotted out like simple cause and effect science, like storytelling/myth-repeating presented as science.

I did find interesting, though, the idea that techno's success in Europe led to the african-american rejection of the form as some white folks music.
 
Yeah it was stuff you would already know if you are into techno, but for a BBC audience I thought it was pretty mindblowingly good.

Although he did say that acid house was the progeny of detroit techno which seems a bit back to front.
