big retrospective, finishes next week, can't recommend it enough if you happen to like raw expressive painting. not cheap to get in mind.

There's something sickly and weird about his paintings that I like very much, the way tree branches or a bird's feet can look very deliberate but a complete dog's dinner at the same time. He was a big influence on all those 80s (mostly awful) "new image" painters like Julian Schnabel wasn't he?
