My friend told me that he'd heard of a (blaxploitation I think) film where the protagonist strangles one of the bad guys with his outsize dobber - I want to see that film, anyone know what it is?

That''s the funniest thing i've ever heard. If you find out, let me know.

Looks as though someone else has come up trumps for me although unfortunately I can't watch youtube at work....

The search also led me to this website which is not really relevant but fucking funny in its own right

"Nonetheless, in 1986 it was claimed that his magnificent member was actually a fake and that his greatest performances had been achieved with prosthetics. Sadly, the allegations proved to be true and his fake knob was confiscated by the Guild of American Pornographers Regulatory Committee. Left only with his own six inches, Jittler retired from film-making in disgrace. In 1988 he was arrested for indecent exposure. According to a police report he had tied three feet of vacuum cleaner hose to his penis as a pathetic substitute for his prosthetic. Before he could go to trial Jittler took his own life - hanging himself with a vacuum cleaner hose."
There's a Guild of American Pornographers Regulatory Committee that goes around checking if penises are real? I find that a litte, ahem, hard to swallow.

I actually watched this film (Soul Vengeance/Welcome Home Brother Charles) yesterday. Kind of a strange one that's played pretty much straight apart from the scene where Charles' penis grows out of his trousers, advances across the floor and strangles the lawyer who prosecuted him like a boa constrictor. Not a great film but worth seeing for that scene and a few bits of good music.

"You surprise me."
I honestly thought it looked as though it would be great - and I am glad I saw it. There was a strange lack of explanation in the film though, if I hadn't read the back I don't think that I would have been able to figure out why the wives of his victims were abetting him in his quest (turns out he'd hypnotised them with his magic dick).

Gentlefolk---

I need film ID help: movie from early 1980's or more likely, the late 1970's, in which a choking child has his throat cut by a distraught mother that is bent on removing the chunk of apple obstructing his windpipe. Haunting ensues.

HELP!

Thanks very much.

Anyone know the name of the late 70s (i think) horror/suspense movie where a couple wake up one morning to find theyve been bricked into their house?

I saw an ad for this once way back in the 80s but was too young to stay up and watch it - or maybe I imagined it?

"It's really there, isn't it?"
"Yes"
"All around the house!"

Hint, you magnificent bastard!

I thought maybe it was some kind of anthology type thing, but the American accent/decor threw me completely off the Hammer scent.

Looks quite good too!

Thank you! I am stunned you found it. Honestly, I saw this at age 8 or so and it stuck with me. A million thanks!

It holds up pretty well too :) though revisiting films that made an impression on you as a child is almost inevitably bittersweet and/ or disappointing. Mia Farrow is, of course, always a bonus. There seems to be a fair bit of nostalgia round this film, i spose it must have had its fair share of TV showings back in the day, would make sense because for one reason or another it lay on the shelf for 4 years or so before getting a muted video release.

OK well I'll give this a shot here- British avant-garde filmmaker of the 1970s, made an entire feature in slow motion I believe, though i haven't seen that. what i saw was about 50 odd minutes long and had long sequences of people rising from their graves in the aforementioned slow motion, lots of tumbling earth, reminded me at the time of a filmic Stanley Spencer. Singular stuff. Can't remember his name though, even though i got to meet him after the screening. He was very old then and it was a good while ago, wouldn't be surprised if he's died since. Anyone?

Full Circle AKA The Haunting of Julia

This is so ripe for a re-release. Wow.

Can't help with any of the outstanding ones I'm afraid but I've got one of my own. Well, not my own actually:

"my wife has been searching for a film for about 15 years.
apparently it was shown on channel fours Banned season in 1991. it might be eastern european (which would explain the 91 lift of the ban) but could be from central europe. its filmed in colour!
the synopsis involves - a hunter and his mate who wonder the countryside and come across a rich family in period garb. the hunter proceeds to seduce the family one by one (ala- down and out in beverly hills / theroem / boudu saved from drowning)"
