This almost belongs more in 'Technology' or 'Nature' than it does here:

One of the few authors of the genre whose work was as much Science as it was Fiction.

Perhaps he'll requisition the AE-35 antenna and beam us a few last words...

Heard this as I was drifting off to sleep last night. Rendezvous with Rama - what a book!

Rendezvous with Rama - what a book!

One of many I've still yet to read - I'm familiar mainly with the Space Odyssey series and some of his short stories. It's cool that he got to see in 2001 with a few years to spare.

Rendezvous with Rama is good but the series goes down hill very fast. It kind of changes from Spaced Odyssey to Neighbours in Space over the course of four or five books.
Remember when he was (falsely) accused of paedophilia about ten years ago? Big story at the time.

edit: That was actually meant to say Space Odyssey, I wasn't trying some kind of witty pun.

Hats off to Arthur C.
Going to see 2001 when it opened at the Biograph Theatre in DC bk in that day was a real inspiration.
One of the greats ...

Strange coincidence: I picked his 'Profiles Of The Future' off the shelf last night and read some...not having looked at it for some time...wake up to hear he's dead.
