Watched some CNN yesterday, they were starting to pull out those map graphics they do when a war's about to start, with possible targets drawn in and little missile icons and stuff.

Is this a long term invasion plan, are they just started to get things prepped now, or trying to provoke Iran?

Anyone read anything particularly good on this?

No, no, no. Attack on Iran absolutely terrible idea. Hostile population not in the least destroyed by sanctions.....war on Iran = middle east on fire! Whatever you might worry about, it's actually in Iran's interests to have nuclear weapons (or even non-hostile nuclear power for that matter). They are surrounded by places much more likely to attack them then they are to invade- What ever happened to MAD... it hardly subsisted on being a unilateral policy. Iran has the lowest voting age in the world - if they choose nuclear capacity so be it - they didn't try and stop bits of europe/pakistan/israel/etc. getting weapons. Either everyone gives them up or no one does.

Yeah I'd much rather no one had nuclear weapons, i think you may have misundertsood me. Interestingly, it seems that it's the US who are dismantling the NPT, and are continuing to design next gen nukes:

"Ironically, in the midst of this delicate situation, the Bush administration is busy dismantling the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). This treaty, signed in 1968 by officials of the United States and of almost all other countries, obligates non-nuclear nations to forgo development of nuclear weapons and nuclear nations to take steps toward nuclear disarmament. The Bush administration reveres the first obligation and wants to scrap the second."

Invading Iran - bad idea.

Iran having nukes - also a bad idea.

They are surrounded by places much more likely to attack them then they are to invade.

True of many countries - is it a good enough reason to possess nukes?

Iran has the lowest voting age in the world - if they choose nuclear capacity so be it

I can't follow the logic here - the lower your age of voters, the clearer your mandate to nuke up?

Nuclear proliferation = bad idea.

US attempts to upgrade arsenals = bad idea.

Scott Ritter

"Scott Ritter, appearing with journalist Dahr Jamail yesterday in Washington State, dropped two shocking bombshells in a talk delivered to a packed house in Olympia’s Capitol Theater. The ex-Marine turned UNSCOM weapons inspector said that George W. Bush has "signed off" on plans to bomb Iran in June 2005, and claimed the U.S. manipulated the results of the recent Jan. 30 elections in Iraq. "
