Apparently it's in contention for the new standard for digital music... I can't imagine any record company being very keen on it.

Be a great format for DJs/remix/sampling.

Too many copyright issues for the exact same reasons.

If big companies are going to get behind this then I hope it's got more going for it than just the fact that it holds more than one audio stream, which is technically trivial and not really that exciting.

Like, what's the audio quality like? Compression efficiency becomes less of an issue all the time anyway.
