What do I need up in my earholes?

Apologies if this has already been covered elsewhere, I searched and couldn't see it.

Maneater remix (I'm at work so can't check if this id the right one!) tbh only good for the lil wayne bit. Don't think it ever came out tho :(

Early Aaliyah, Missy...

Old, but classic Neptunes.

Check both Clipse lps, esp. the second one - 'Trill', 'Mr Me Too'...all killer no filler ha ha. Also:

Superthug by Noreaga
Kelis (first and second lps)
Southern Hospitality by Ludacris

Off the top of my head

I just dont know
agreed on all optimum's suggestions for Neptunes - Clipse albums especially, much darker than a lot of their stuff though

some other personals:

Missy - On & On
Daft Punk - Harder Better Faster Stronger Remix
Busta - Call The Ambulance
Busta - Pass The Courvoisier Part II
Snoop - Beautiful
Snoop - Drop It Like It's Hot

Timbaland masterpieces are too many, its hard to know where to start!

his Aaliyah and Missy productions are my favourites though i think

also Genuwine, and hundreds of miscellaneous

Yeah I think he used the instrumental. Greena did a Vansan remix using the acapella: www.youtube.com/watch?v=TInhU9A5Mcs

heavy heavy monster sound
I love 'Is that your chick'. Amazing tune.

Fam'lay : Scrunt Owt is a killer Neptunes one.

Timbaland has gotta be 'Oops' by Tweet, and for my money 'Deliverance' the album by Bubba Sparxx, it got lost that one. The LPs with Magoo are good for beats as well.

Shonx

Shallow House
N.E.R.D - Lapdance - Still a nasty tune

Busta Rhymes - As I come Back

Fabolous - Young'un (Holla Back)

Timbaland and Magoo - Indian Flute

Missy - Beep My 911 (Timb's wonky pop sensibility)

Ludacris - Stand Up

And this is the tune I thought of when I heard that detuned Ikonika synth sound (I do hope it was intended - I like the idea of pop ideas being slipped into underground sounds, way more fun than vice versa)

All too sick. 'Is That your Chick' (almost grime) and 'Potion', (the owl detuned sound!) definately landmark productions!

Logos:The Baby/clipse tune is also a landmark, the kicks, synth, 'live' sounding drums...

Shonx, that Luda one is great but produced by Kanye ;) Ikonika is quite into Britney, so I wouldn't discount it, not sure she was thinking of that particular one tho! I always preferred the 'Boys' tune better.

Oops. :(

Shame if we'd added in Kanye we could have had Lucifer by Jay-z. Then I'd be right too.;)

Trying to figure out what hip hop would sound like now if it hadn't been for the Neptunes and Timba - seem to rememember a lot of very nondescript headnodders beforehand and pretty sure they've influenced a majority of rap producers since. I think a lot of 2 step was influenced by Timbaland's beats (oh the discoveries you can make not checking what speed a tune should be at)

Have we had Big Pimpin yet btw?

All too sick. 'Is That your Chick' (almost grime)

funny you should mention that

last night i spent a little while on youtube listening to '99-ish Mannie Fresh and Ca$h Money, and listening back now (i didn't know about garage or grime til much later) that stuff sounds so much like grime. rhythms are less extreme but the aesthetic is so similar

Yes def, prob did have an influence (did people rhyme over it at the time? Got a vague memory but may just be maiking it up lol) Not too up on it these days, but some of those beats were around 140bpm. A bit later but there was that Plasticman remix of 'Still Tippin' by Mike Jones that did the rounds.

Shonx: Big Pimpin' been mentioned, big tune
