I know...and even worse are the claims in the comments that a member of Hamas paid Obama's way through Harvard Law (lol )...and that if Obama gets elected American women will be wearing burkas (LOL)

It's really sad that republicans are going to lose AND come across looking like fundamentalist/extremist morons. If religious extremism a la "Islamism" is so terrible why does most of McCain's base practice just another form of it?

Swears, if Youtube is any indication of what's going on in the latest battle in the culture war, conservatives are getting shriller and shriller as their ideological foundations crumble beneath them. For every icky racist video posted by some obviously misinformed moron there are a million more videos with pictures of uterine tissue from an abortion (as if abortions are any more gorey than most other surgical procedures) trying to gross people out enough that they get behind Sarah P and a trillion more with some idiot sounding off and pushing for increased U.S. aggression overseas...

It's unsurprising if you look at the demographic breakdown Crackerjack posted from dailykos where it was quite obvious that the McCain campaign is (much like Bush's) the republicanism of the white male aged 25-40, i.e. the "nascar dad"...

Thanks to the economy everyone else is pissed and they're not going to hand over the WH to yet another administration that will fight for rich white male entitlement while the middle class starves and goes homeless...

Yeah it's great when someone is clearly posting on youtube ironically but all the wingnuts jump on their posts and cheerlead them on....

It's almost as if the McCain advisors listened to that Obama speech and thought "yeah, that's a great idea..." [Check the comment by obamaforking if you doubt that irony is dead...]

I watched something on CNN last night where experts mostly agree that the Bradley effect isn't really anticipated to change the outcome of the election. The racist anti-Obama contingent are mostly senior citizens, and they're openly racist. I believe this is the contingent the McCain campaign is mostly targeting as their base in their dirty campaign:

I've already spent waaaay too many hours these past few weeks pouring over comments section flame wars on blogs and youtube. So I'm clearly fascinated by it.

But it mostly just makes me feel sad and depressed. So many people have fought so hard to make sure the world could move past racism and ignorance, and it's arguably just as bad as ever...definitely gave up caring much quite a long time ago.

I don't think Obama is some kind of deity and I don't have unrealistic expectations, but I do feel that if he wins the election there's some hope I can cling to that things will get better eventually...
